Narrative Approaches in Professional Practice

Tapping into the hopes, values and aspirations of young people, families and practitioners

Outline

A one-day conference for psychology, mental health, education and social care professionals wanting to learn more about integrating narrative therapy approaches into everyday professional practice.

Description

Keynote Speakers:

Hugh Fox, Trainer and Consultant, Founding Director of the Institute of Narrative Therapy: "From Professional Expertise to Client Agency: Co-authoring Useful Stories".

Hugh Fox has worked with children and families for over 40 years and has been passionately involved with Narrative Therapy for over 25 years. He was a social worker before qualifying as a family therapist in the early 90s and moving to work for CAMHS. He is a founding Director of The Institute of Narrative Therapy and teaches widely both in the UK and overseas.

Dr Charmian Hobbs, Educational Psychologist, Narrative Therapist: "Making Links: Narrative Therapy and Educational Psychology in Practice".

Charmian has been working for nearly 20 years developing her narrative practice and training. She was first introduced to narrative therapy while working at Newcastle University as an academic tutor on the postgraduate programme in educational psychology. Charmian has worked as an educational psychologist for many years in local authorities. As she develops her own practice, she has an ever-growing commitment to, and belief in, the value of narrative and has seen compelling evidence of the change it can bring about.

Workshops will be presented by keynote speakers and practicing psychologists integrating a range of narrative approaches into their everyday professional practice e.g. individual casework, service delivery models, supervision.

Lunch is provided and free parking is available at the Crowne Plaza multi-storey carpark (parking tickets will be validated within the hotel prior to departure).
