A half-day training course for Designated Teachers for looked after and previously looked after children.

This training is provided by the Nottinghamshire Virtual School for Children Looked After or Previously Looked After.

'Designated Teachers have a responsibility for ‘Listening to the voice of the child’
(The designated teacher for looked-after and previously looked-after children, statutory guidance on their roles and responsibilities. DfE, 2018).

Description

This course will introduce Narrative Approaches, which aim to support children to story their experiences and tap into their the hopes, values and dreams as a means of understanding what values are guiding their futures.
It will provide attendees with understanding of a number of narrative tools and a script around The Tree of Life resource to enable them to use this with young people in their schools.
The Tree of Life is an accessible and visual exercise which focuses on young people’s views about where they come from, what gives them strength and what they want their futures to look like.
