Inference Training is an evidence based group intervention for students in Y2, KS2, KS3 or in special schools who can decode but struggle to get full meaning and enjoyment from their reading. Delegates will:
- consider the barriers to comprehension
- learn to assess students approaches to reading and next steps for teaching and learning
- develop strategies to help students improve comprehension
- understand how to deliver the group intervention using materials from the resource file.
The Inference Training Intervention supports students to become more active, independent readers who will be able to use a range of effective reading strategies to understand the text they read in all curriculum areas.
Delegates will have an increased understanding of the strategies that have an impact on reading comprehension to use within the intervention and in the classroom across all curriculum areas.
The latest impact data showed that pupils gained more than 12 months in reading comprehension over 12 weeks.
